Critic Reviews
The movie is directed by Rajkumar Gupta whose earlier movie was 'Aamir'. He has also done the screenplay of the movie. It consists of actors like Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan. It is produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of UTV Spot boy. The movie is edited by Aarti Bajaj. Story: The movie is based on the infamous incident of the murder of Jessica (Myra) in the year 1999 in the capital of the nation, New Delhi. She was young a model then and was trying her skills of bartending in a celebrity party organized in her friend's nightclub when she was shot by a politicians son, Manish, just for refusing a drink. There were than 300 witnesses to this incident. Still many claimed that they saw nothing which leads Sabrina, Jessica's sister, played by Vidya, to believe that cost of a life was cheaper than a drink for a man who had a gun in his pocket and the power of being a politician's son gone right to his head. And in spite of this he could still roam about freely as though he did nothing. It is then that Meera Gaity, a crime reporter played by Rani, steps in to seek justice. Meera and Sabrina have to leave no stone unturned to seek justice for Jessica – to make truth win over power and money. Performance: The performance of each and every actor is worth applause. Rani fits in perfectly as the practical, foul mouthed and no- nonsense journalist while Vidya plays the character of a common person fighting for justice to the T. All the other actors also fit in perfectly. The costumes were designed by Sabyasachi Mukherji and it was totally in sync with the characters played. The Cinematography done by Anay Goswami is also good. It presents Delhi in a way you have never seen it before. Direction: The director Rajkumar stated that he had taken this title from one of the headlines printed on the Times of India. The direction of the movie is superb. Yes, of course he couldn't get the movie to blame someone or anything. It had to be neutral in its approach and that's exactly what he did. Music: The music was done by Amit Trivedi and the lyrics were written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The album consists of songs like 'Dilli' which is sung by Tochi Raina, Shriram Iyer and Aditi Singh Sharma which does really have an effect over you and bring you in the plot of the movie. Then is 'Aali Re' consisting of a host of singers. Besides these there are songs like 'Dua' and 'Aitbaar' and a little soft song 'Yeh pal' sung by Shilpa Rao. Conclusion: To summarize, the entire movie is good and deserves a watch. It shows the mockery of legal system at the hands of some powerful people. The loopholes that exist in the system, the corruption and the helplessness of common help are well portrayed in the movie. Verdict: Go for it if you want to see something different!
