One Line Review: A bit funny, quirky and crazy story of a battle hardened gun loving tough girl, completely mish-mashed into a heap of chaos. Positive Points: Perfect depiction of the local environs and lingo. Negative Points: The story is a meaningless chaos; disappointing end. Plot: Alka Singh (Kangana Ranaut) is a tough, life hardened and heady young women, fond of guns and ready to go bang bang any time she is intimidated by her enemies. She has been called as a 'bhaanj' as she is incapable of giving birth. She is assisted by her mama Balli (Piyush Mishra) in fighting and fending off her number one enemy Udaybhan Singh (Zakir Hussain). Her sole aim is to uproot Udaybhan Singh from the pedestal and dominate the Gwalior-Morena region. Surprisingly, she also has a boyfriend, Rohan Kapoor (Vir Das), who has an ambition to become a top star in Bollywood. However, Udaybhan Singh has a plan to kidnap him so that he can checkmate Alka Singh. Now Alka is doing her best to remove Udaybhan Singh from power so that she can dominate the area. However, hardly she knows that the real enemy is not far away somewhere, but is closer home. Direction And Other Technical Aspects: The film begins as an action packed comedy, but fails to carry forward successfully with the same tone. The movie does not carry forward the way it is expected to. From an overall view, the movie looks like a chaotic mash up of events. Though the film has a definite storyline, it has not been put up in a smooth flowing format. With regards to cinematography, one will have to agree that the gun fight scenes have been shot impressively. It is not your typical Bollywood gun fight, but it has realistic streak to it. Performances: We get to see Kangana Ranaut in a totally new light thanks to her exceptional performance which stands out differently from all others that she has done till today. She has successfully performed the character of an unrefined, rural, aggressive and hotheaded small town young woman. Her performance is indeed genuine and her character stands out in the dull backdrop. Vir Das with his usual calm and funkiness plays the character of a 'desperate for success' and selfish city guy, who has no consideration for his partner. Piyush Mishra, an experienced actor has aptly performed the role of a small town hinterland wise old guy, who is always suggesting the protagonist ways to defend and attack the enemy. Zakir Hussain, who happens to be one of the few genuine villains of Bollywood has successfully portrayed the character of an arrogant, yet calm and conniving politician. Music: The title track in the beginning pretty much sums for all the likeable music in the film. However, others songs are not that catchy and worth enjoying as the 'Revolver Rani' title track. Final Verdict: 'Revolver Rani' is all about a wild, aggressive and hot headed woman from the hinterland of the cow belt, known for its crime and guns. The story is all about her conflicts with her corrupt and arrogant goon-politician foes, which is marked by violence, action, intensity but also a strange and unwanted chaotic quirkiness. Frankly speaking, if you have two hours to spare and if you are super bored, then you can surely go for this movie.
