One line Review: Shot at classy and exotic locations, sophistication and mystery intact throughout the movie. Positive Points: Astounding and praise worthy performances by all the three leads, this film offers more of Jacqueline Fernandez than just featuring her as a pretty face, Beautiful locales and superb shots where in the elegance and class is emphasized to the core. The marvellously shot movie that holds a lot of mystery. Negative Points: To be precise, the film is more for the classes than the masses. The plot is dawdling and at times a bit perplexing too. The entire plot looks very promising since the very beginning but unfortunately does not sum up into anything of substance. Plot: Kabir Grewal (Arjun Rampal) is a maverick film maker who gets inspired by the master art thief Roy (Ranbir Kapoor) to the extent that he begins working on a script keeping Roy as his central character. Ayesha Aamir (Jacqueline Fernandez) is also a film maker who later becomes the love interest of Kabir. Kabir is a Casanova who is known for dating multiple girls but genuinely falls for Ayesha and she then becomes his drive for further enhancement of his script. Ayesha is an intelligent, straight forward girl who also falls for Kabir's charm. Meanwhile the story of Roy moves forward with Tia (Jacqueline in a dual role) who plays the female lead of Kabir's film. As the story unfolds, the mystery of the film is intact all the way through. The plot switches constantly from real to reel leaving the audiences a bit haywire. The plot is sluggish at times and keeps ones' concentration built for the pro intelligent plot. The mystery continues as one wonders if Ayesha will accept Kabir in spite of knowing facts about his life and Roy's story. Direction and other Technical Aspects: The debutant director Vikramjit Singh has put a sincere effort in the making. The movie is marvellously shot at gorgeous locations but there are a few loopholes in the script. The cinematography and background music score full marks. The dialogues of are too erratic and sometimes just does not fit the bill. Performances: Ranbir and Jacqueline's screen presence enlivens the sometimes dull plot. Ranbir Kapoor has indeed given a brilliant performance in spite of having a very monotonous and dull character. Arjun Rampal has also done an adequate justice to his role of a film maker. Jacqueline has a dual role in the film. The actress exceeds expectations in terms of acting and one can see a major improvement in her considering her past films though her dialogue delivery is still not appreciable. Anupam Kher has a cameo in the film and the veteran essays the role of Kabir's father very convincingly. Music: The already popular songs 'Suraj Duba' and 'Tu hai ke nahi' are a delight in the film. The song 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyan Ve' sung by Kanika Kapoor is also an equally loved song. The song 'Boond Boond' by Ankit Tiwari is a pleasing romantic one. The last number 'Yaara Re' has a sad tone but a beautiful one by KK. The film has a really cool background music which enhances the visuals. Final Verdict: Roy can be summed up as a subtle love story at the base with loads of toppings of mystery, coatings of a thriller and mixture of sophisticated ideation and execution. It will be a nice Valentines' Day watch. Do not keep your expectations high and enjoy the movie with its random twists!
