Confirmed: Padmaavat to hit screens on 25th January in three languages!

After a lot of speculations, the makers of the upcoming historical drama Padmaavat have confirmed that their film will arrive in cinemas on 25th January. The film was earlier scheduled to release on 1st December. Along with announcing the new release date of the movie, the makers also unveiled the new posters with a slight change in the title. As we all know that Padmaavat was earlier titled as Padmavati. But after a series of controversies around the film, the Central Board of Film Certification directed the producers of the movie to change the title, along with a couple of cuts in the movie.

“Padmaavat is a dream come true for me. I have always been fascinated by the stories of honor, valor and vigor of our great Rajput warriors that have been captured so beautifully in our literature and this movie is my homage to those glorious stories. I would also like to thank the entire film fraternity for supporting Viacom18 and Bhansali Productions through the entire production and pre-release phase and hope they like the film they so supported,” said director Sanjay Leela Bhansali .

Padmaavat will now clash with Akshay Kumar ’s Pad Man which is also releasing on the same date. Trade pundits are of the opinion that the clash will affect Pad Man more as Padmaavat is a much bigger film and the controversy around it has piqued the audiences’ curiosity manifold, which will show in the box office numbers. The film will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Well, it will be really interesting to see which film makes most of the Republic Day weekend.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali , Padmaavat stars Deepika Padukone , Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in lead roles. It is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures Pvt Ltd .
