The makers of the upcoming biopic film ' Neerja ' starring Sonam Kapoor has apparently spent a huge amount for the research work for the film. Usually the production teams of films spend a lot of money on locations, qualified international technicians and so on. But, makers of the forthcoming biopic gave out almost 3 crores for research work as they wanted to keep the film real and as much authentic as possible.

According to a leading daily, the makers made a team of 15 members that travelled extensively to countries like Pakistan, USA and Libya, to trace the people who were on board the flight, which was hijacked in 1986. The makers wanted to get first-hand account of what the people witnessed on the flight.

The biopic is made on the life of late air hostess Neerja Bhanot who lost her life while saving the lives of hijacked passengers on PanAm flight in Karachi in 1986. The courageous Neerja posthumously received The Ashok Chakra, the highest civilian award for bravery. Neerja became the youngest recipient of this award. Directed by Ram Madhwani , the movie is set to hit the theatres on February 19, 2016.
