‘Padmavati’ title changed to ‘Padmavat’; granted UA certificate by CBFC!
Looks like Deepika Padukone starrer has passed all its tests and will hit screens soon.
The big news is coming in that the title of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati has been changed to Padmavat and the film has been passed by Central Board Of Film Certification with UA certificate after ordering the makers to chop off 26 cuts in the film. The movie has been mired in controversies ever since it went on floors last year and when it was ready to release on 1st December 2017, its release was stalled after violent protests by many fringe groups across the country.
The Examining Committee of the CBFC viewed the film Padmavati on 28 December and decided to issue UA certificate to the film after ordering producers to cut a string of scenes. A UA certificate means that the film can be viewed by all age groups. According to sources, Central Board of Film Certification has asked Padmavati makers to change the film’s name to Padmavat, the title of a 16th-century poem on fabled Rajasthani queen Rani Padmini.
Also starring Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in lead roles, the film sees Deepika Padukone in the titular role of queen Padmavati.
