Badmaash Company is directed by actor turned director Parmeet Sethi. This film has been produced by Yash Raj Films and is written by Parmet Sethi itself. This film will remind you Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee's film Bunty aur Bubly which was produced from the same banner. It clearly seems that since Bunty aur Bubly was hit the director tried to make a film similar to that and the producers got convencied. However, this film is not as good as Bunty aur Bubly nor as fast as that. Badmaash Company is the story of four youngsters Karan (sahid Kapoor), Anushka Sharma, Meiyang Chang and Vir das and this movie is set in the 1990. Karan (Shahid Kapur) is the central character of this film. Once his father experiences heart attack, but they don't find enough money for his treatment. His mother (Kiran Junega) pawns her jewellery for the treatment (heart operation) of her husband (Anupam Kher). This makes Karan restless and he decides to earn a lot of money and to become very rich. Thus circumstances lead other characters to meet each other. All want to earn lots of money and become millionaire. Karan hits upon an idea, to sell imported goods, at low rates. This is the reason why we see the story opening with Sahid aspiring to become rich in very short period. Thus he plans an elegant import trade where they could escape the custom duty and sell foreign merchandise at low prices to people of India who were craving for them. Karan (Sahid) does this successfully with the help of his buddies Chandu (Vir Das), Zing (Meiyang Chang) and Bulbul (Anushka Sharma). Thus this film tries to show how they hit upon a technique to hammer the system and become rich. Thus they go on earning lots of money until and unless the import duty on foreign goods is severely cut down by the government. This leads their successful business to flop. Now they don't know what to do! What happens ahead is the rest of the film. Parmeet Sethi as a director has done his job well but as a script writer he fails to impress. The pace of the film is slow and drags at many places. Pritam's music is not as appealing as his earlier films. It can be said to be average. However Sanjay Kapoor's has done his job of DOP very well and has explored Bangkok and other places very well. Sahid Kapoor's performance in this film is much better than his recently released films Chance Pe Dance and Paathshala. Anushka Sharma has tried to attract viewers by exposing her body by wearing dresses with lesser clothes. This may attract some viewers but not all. However she has looked glamorous and did her part well. Vir Das too is good in his role. Above all, the Indian Idol winner Meiyang Chang is excellent in his role and he has impressed all by his work. He should get assignments in other films too. Pawan Malhotra and Jameel Khan are also good in their roles. Though the film is slow, it is not bad. The finest thing about this film is that you recognize with the approach of those who aim to reach the peak of success using shortcuts. The trick and the defraud games the youth pamper in are effortless to decode and slightly complicated, which works in its favour. One more powerful point is the friendship that the 4 actors contribute to on the monitor. The movie would have failed to even stand if their chemistry would have missed. But their bonding looks so genuine that you stop thinking about that they are only playing their characters. This film is neither too good nor too bad. You can watch it if you want to pass your time. Else watch world cup T 20!
