Pritam Chakraborty

Pritam Chakraborty, fondly known as Pritam is a renowned music composer in Bollywood. Born on the 14th of June, 1971 in a Bengali Hindu Brahmin family, Pritam was raised in Kolkata. Completing his schooling at St. Jame's School, Kolkata, Pritam equivalently gained his expertize in music through his father, who ran a music school in Kolkata itself. Deeply in love with music, post schooling, Pritam on the contrary chose Geology as his stream for higher studies from the prestigious Presidency College.

Thus, his strings still attached to music made him fall prey to his passion. Pritam went ahead to pursue his dreams and joined the influential FTII institute, Pune. Completing a full fledged course in sound engineering, the prominent lad steeped ahead and started composing jingles for renowned brands like Santoor, Emami and Head and Shoulders, whereas he took a leap ahead and composed title tracks for few tele series as well, like "Astitva" and "Kkavyanjali".

Moving ahead to make it big into the industry, Pritam collaborated with his FTII buddies Sanjay Gadhvi and Jeet Ganguly. Whereas Jeet and Pritam focused more on music, Sanjay keenly handled the directorial part. Focusing on his career, Pritam got his first big break when Sanjay directed his first film 'Tere Liye' in 2001. The film nurtured the composition composed by the duo Pritam-Jeet. Post this, the trio met up again for Yash Raj Films 'Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai' again directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. Later the musical duo Jeet and Pritam parted their ways and Pritam climbed up the success ladder solely with his future projects like 'Dhoom', 'Garam Masala', 'Gangster', 'Dhoom 2', 'Bhagam Bhag', 'Life in a Metro', 'Naqaab', 'Jab We Met', 'Race', 'Jannat', 'Singh Is Kinng', 'Golmaal Returns', 'Love Aaj Kal', 'New York', 'Badmaash Company', 'Raajneeti', 'Golmaal 3', 'Ready', 'Bodyguard', 'Desi Boyz', 'Cocktail', 'Barfi!', 'Race 2' and 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', few among others.

However, his music was very much appreciated, Pritam too carried off few controversies regards to replicating his tracks from the world music archives. Thus, proving others wrong Pritam moved on and kept composing. Initially just getting nominated at several award functions, the maestro tasted royalty by winning his first big award apart from rest fraternity awards, the prestigious IIFA award for his music in 'Love Aaj Kal'. Then what the wagon released, it surpassed all stations with flicks like 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai', 'Cocktail' and 'Barfi!' proving their best winning the highest awards as compared to the competitors nominated at their respective times.

Flourishing his best with lots and lots of accolades and appreciation coming in from all around the world for his recent masterpiece 'Barfi!', Pritam is topping the success meters, leaving his competitors behind. Stating the same in actual, his future projects 'Phata Poster Nikhla Hero', 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects', 'Rambo Rajkumar' and 'Dhoom 3' will do the talking for him.
