A muddle headed young reporter has more misadventures to count than any substantial stories she could be proud of. Although she has a number of ideas that she believes would crack many issues, she doesn't get a go-ahead from her boss to execute them. Meet Noor Roy Chaudhary (Sonakshi Sinha), a journalist who works for a news agency and juggles her work, love, friends and personal life on a day-to-day basis, Noor could be any other girl from any part of India. On that count, Noor directed by Sunhil Sippy, is utterly believable, and Noor is a girl someone any girl would identify with.

She hates interviewing Sunny Leone and cringes over the faulty geyser, desires to do a substantial story, the 28 year old Noor (Sonakshi Sinha) is the desi Bridget Jones - sloppy, self- obsessed but endearingly funny as our fellow journalist next desk. NOOR produced by T-Series and Abundantia Entertainment is a charming feel good cinema that is able to put a SPOTLIGHT on the city of dreams Mumbai and mirror the complicated but liberal, indefinable and progressive life of an upper middle-class metropolitan urban.

Sonakshi Sinha's Noor is the story of a young journalist who covers small stories but aspires to bring "real stories" to the light. It is an adaptation of Saba Kazmi's critically acclaimed book, Karachi! You Are Killing Me! Directed by Sunhil Sippy, Noor fails exactly where the book excelled. Karachi... was appreciated thanks to its "honest portrayal" of a small journalist trying her best to maintain the eluding work-life balance and fighting the demons in a bad world in her efforts to find an award-winning report.

The manic pixie dream girl has a whiny sister. I like to call her the uppity scatterbrained pinterest princess. Unlike the manic pixie, this one is a goofy grouch blaming the world for the inadequacies of her life while harbouring grand notions about her own importance in it on the strength of aspirational quotes and a set of friends purely existing for her benefit and rescue. In Noor, she finds an embodiment in Sonakshi Sinha whose energetic vibe and easy likeability nourish the film's fluffy bits.

The story revolves around Noor (Sonakshi), a 28-year-old girl, who stays with her father in Mumbai and works as a journalist with a news agency, where her 'potential is not being explored' apparently. If that was not all, Noor is also battling weight issues and is looking for Mr. Right, which she claims is an 'urban legend'. However, life starts looking up for Noor when she meets Ayan (Purab Kohli), a former war correspondent who seems too good to be true and stumbles across an organ harvesting scandal. However, everything goes wrong in the blink of an eye, compelling Noor to look into the mirror and face some harsh facts about herself and the world in general.

NOOR is slice of life Bollywood drama which tells the tale of a journalist's adventures and misadventures while navigating her way through the city of Mumbai. The film starts off with the narrative introduction of Noor (Sonakshi Sinha) and her near and dear ones which includes her father (Maharaj Krishen Raina), her buddy Saad (Kanan Gill), her best friend Zara (Shibani Dandekar), her boss Shekhar (Manish Chaudhari) and her maid Malti (Smita Tambe). Noor, who works as a journalist in Shekhar's office handles a show 'Mumbai's Believe It Or Not'. Not the one to be satisfied with that, she repeatedly applies for a job at the prestigious CNN only to be rejected each time. Life continues to be full of downs and ups (in that order) for the 'never-satisfied-with-life' Noor.

On her way to interview Sunny Leone, Noor, this film's lead character, describes herself professionally as "dunia ki sabse pointless journalist!" While this picture's promotional tagline is #IAmNoor; for a sec, it felt as if I was really Noor! This is to let you know there is instant connect here for a lot of my past and present colleagues, working in the same profession as the heroine, although one can't tell exactly what sort of journalism outlet Noor works in.

Noor Roy Chaudhary (Sonakshi Sinha) is a 28 year-old junior correspondent with a news agency that is headed by editor Shekhar Das (Manish Choudhary). While Noor is an aspiring 'Barkha'(Dutt gets chopped by Censor board), she's unhappy covering local stories that have no substance whatsoever. In her personal life, she has two best friends, Zara Patel (Shibani Dandekar), a DJ and Saad ( Kannan Gill).

There are films that leave me wondering why a character wants what they want. This happens frequently in movies when the motives are unusual - when a character is driven to desperation by a maddening thirst for fame, say, or by the need to decapitate women who wear red shoes - but there are times when an aggressively average protagonist can seem as puzzling. With Noor, for example, I cannot for the life of me figure out why the film's heroine wants to be a journalist.

Noor the film is as mixed up as its female protagonist of the same name: it gets some things right and the others horribly wrong. First, the good stuff. What a delight to see a woman fronting a film, even if Noor's (Sonakshi Sinha) character is somewhat of a young Bridget Jones template: she peers at a bag of chips as if were an enemy (right, she's got weight issues); she hangs out with a guy (Kanan Gill) she's known for ever, back-slapping him (of course, the realization that he's something more will dawn at an appropriately late stage); she has no compunction about making moves on an attractive available male (Purab Kohli) even as she voices anxieties about the state of her love life, or the lack thereof; and so on.

Noor Roy Chaudhary is a young mediaperson in Mumbai, keen to practice journalism with meaning, journalism that makes a difference to humanity and is aimed at the larger good. The chasm separating what she wants to do (unearth corruption, for instance) and what she is allowed to by her video news agency (interview Sunny Leone, cover Ripley's-Believe-It-Or-Not kind of drama) seems unbridgeable, and so she spends her life cribbing about...well...her life.

Who knew Sonakshi Sinha was capable of this all along? Watching her play this part is the most starkly disorienting thing about Noor. The movie gives her a chance to be an actual flesh-and-bone person. She's relatable as a girl who swears by her rum (and suffers hangovers), eats cake in bed (and dreads getting on a weighing scale) and becomes the third wheel on a friend's date (while cursing her own single life). We've all been there.

Noor is insufferable, boring, tedious, torturous, f... words will not be enough to describe how bad the film is. Based on the Pakistani novel Karachi, You're Killing Me!, Noor explores the life of the titular character, played by Sonakshi Sinha, who is a journalist. We know this because Noor tells us this fact about her life at least ten times and by the way, Noor is really bad at her job but that comes later.
