Why the success of ‘Ittefaq’ is important for Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha?

Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha are paired for the first time for their upcoming movie ‘Ittefaq’. It’s a thriller drama, wherein Akshaye Khanna will also be seen in a pivotal role alongside these two actors. The movie not only is important to the makers, but also to its leads. Sidharth and Sonakshi haven’t tasted a super-hit in a while. Despite making their big debuts with ‘Student Of The Year’ and ‘Dabangg’ respectively, both the actors are struggling to give a hit since a long time now and hence they are relying heavily on the success of Ittefaq.

Directed by Abhay Chopra, the Red Chillies Entertainment and Dharma Productions’ venture is touted to be one of the highly anticipated thrillers of recent times. Since the film is an official remake of Rajesh Khanna and Nanda’s highly successful film of the same name, expectations are riding really high on the film. Filling in the shoes of veterans like Rajesh Khanna and Nanda is not an easy task, but it would surely be exciting for the fans to see if Sidharth and Sonakshi could do justice to their roles.

Sidharth and Sonakshi have been part of some mega-budgeted films in the past, but none of their outing could cast any spell on the audience. Businesswise also, their films have turned out to be losing propositions for all the stakeholders involved. While Sidharth’s last movies ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ (2016), and ‘A Gentleman’ (2017) failed miserably at the box office, Sonakshi too witnessed a lean phase in her career as her films flopped left, right and center.

She is on a streak of giving average and flop movies. A blockbuster is nowhere in sight for the actress. Her last clean hit was ‘Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’ (2014). Since the film starred Akshay Kumar in the lead role, he walked away with all the appreciation coming his way. After that, she delivered a string of flops like ‘Action Jackson’ ‘Lingaa’ (Tamil), Tevar, All Is Well and Noor. Only Akira and Force 2 could make some sort of money at the ticket window.

Both Sidharth and Sonakshi made their Bollywood debuts with the big names backing them, the actors are struggling to give a solo hit. We wish them luck and hope, with ‘Ittefaq’ things should turn for them and their fans can get to see them rocking the screen and box office again.
