Storyline

Akhilesh, an engineer son of an upright retired teacher Dwarka Anand dies in a mishap. On his sad demise, a compensation of Rs. 25 lakhs is announced by Balram Singh, the state home minister. Sumitra, the widow of Akhilesh faces struggle by frequent visits to the government offices. Not able to see this miserable situation, Dwarka Anand gives a slap to a robust officer in charge. Anand gets arrested for this act instantly and the real tale begins.

Plot & Review

The engineer and only son of principled retired teacher Dwarka Anand (Amitabh Bachchan), Akhilesh ( Indraneil Sengupta) confronts an accident and dies. The state home minister, Balram Singh (Manoj Bajpai) offers a compensation of Rs. 25 lakhs to Akhilesh\'s family on his death. Sumitra (Amrita Rao), Akhilesh\'s widow several times visit the government offices, but fails to get a single penny of the compensation, thereby falls victim to corruption. Frustrated to see all this, one day, Dwarka Anand slaps the officer in charge and this slap gets him imprisoned.

Here enters Akhilesh\'s best friend Manav Raghavendra (Ajay Devgn). Manav gets to know about this matter from Sumitra. Post this, Manav decides to give rise to a massive revolutionary movement that will provide the boon for all the people in the nation getting suffocated at the hands of corruption. This movement assimilates a social activist Arjun Singh (Arjun Rampal) and a fervent television reporter Yasmin Ahmed (Kareena Kapoor). In the later phase, a huge flock of masses become a part of this movement driven by a noble social cause.
