Randhir Kapoor

Born in the Kapoor dynasty on 15th February 1947, Randhir Kapoor aka Daboo was a child lucky enough. With the generations rooted to dedicate themselves in the Hindi Film Industry from grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor, father Raj Kapoor and uncles Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, Randhir's destiny to land up in B-Town was very well predicted in advance.

As we earlier said that the acting genes were spreading high in Randhir Kapoor since his childhood. So was Randhir gave his first screen appearance by essaying young Jagannath, Raj Kapoor's character in 1959 released 'Do Ustad'. Later came the time for the eldest son Randhir to debut in the industry with 1971's 'Kal Aaj Aur Kal' alongside the actress Babita. The film not only marked the lad's acting debut, but directorial as well at the same time. The film proved to be an average success under his home banner R. K. Films.

Later the couple Randhir Kapoor and Babita sealed their reel relationship with real wedlock in 1971. Post his debut and marriage, Daboo moved ahead and acted in three films 'Raampur Ka Lakshman', 'Jeet' and 'Jawani Diwani', which proved to be consecutive hits in year 1972. Randhir as well saw a flop with his next remake release 'Rickshawala' in 1973 opposite Neetu Singh. Moving ahead of this rough patch, Daboo regained success with the films like 'Haath Ki Safai' and 'Dil Deewana' in the year 1974. Along with professional prosperity, the couple Daboo and Babita was blessed with a cute baby girl Karisma in the same year. Along with acting in few films like 'Ponga Pandit' and 'Lafange', Daboo made his second directorial 'Dharam Karam' starring alongside real father Raj Kapoor and Rekha. The film this time did a below average performance and disappointed the Kapoor junior.

The Kapoor, however found peace in acting in films like 'Ram Bharose', 'Mama Bhanja', 'Aakhri Daku', 'Dhongee' and was once again on track professionally. The train as well went smooth personally, when he was once again blessed with a daughter Kareena in the year 1980. The actor now was not alone in the industry, his brother Rishi had joined the league, later followed by yet another sibling Rajiv Kapoor. However, Daboo continued his contribution with the movie 'Harjaee', well then after his career saw a steep downfall with the flick 'Pukar' fell on to its face.

Daboo accordingly digested the failure well, but got struck personally as well when his wife Babita left him along with their children Karisma and Kareena. Bouncing back and leaving the bad phase to rest, Randhir came up with his yet another directorial venture 'Henna' in 1991. The film showcased his younger brother Rishi Kapoor and Ashwini Bhave along with a Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar in lead role. The star cast and subject lured the audiences, proving it a hit in that year. The film also went on to be more special, as it was the last coming from the 'showman' Raj Kapoor.

Accordingly the success brushed Daboo in a form of direction as well as producer, producing 'Prem Granth' in the year 1996, but missed him with acting in his next flick 'Mother 98' in 1999. Soon realizing his directorial potential, Randhir delivered a success by producing yet another project titled 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen' in 1999.

Randhir then went missing and his place was filled by his daughters Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, who till then established their career in B-Town as one of the finest actresses in the industry. Randhir then dismissed the wait and appeared in 2003's film 'Armaan' opposite Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Preity Zinta.

The actor also patched his relationship with not divorced yet separated wife Babita in 2007. All well now, Randhir has became a grandfather with Karisma's kids, still lures the audiences in the recently released 'Housefull' series, 'Action Replay' and 'Ramaiya Vastavaiya'.
