One Line Review: A usual love story stuffed with the bits and pieces of previously celebrated love stories. Positive Points: Music, Few Emotional Scenes, Some Funny Moments, Performances Negative Points: Dragged scenes, non magnetic content Plot: Four school friends Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur), Naina (Deepika Padukone) and Aditi (Kalki Koechlin) have altogether different personality traits. Bunny is a free bird who doesn't want to involve in any sort of relationship and just want to explore the world. Naina is a shy, studious and focused girl next door. She has some aims in her life and is serious about her life. Whether Avi has no specific aim in life and is a carefree person who wants to run his own business. His best friend is liquor apart from Bunny and Aditi. While Aditi is simply not interested in studies. She is a tomboy and fearless who regrets nothing in her life. Such four different people meet at one point of life and decide to go on an adventure road trip in Manali. The journey is full of fun, party, adventure, friendship and emotions. All of them enjoy their journey. Naina has feelings for Bunny since her school days but she could not express. Once, she tries to convey her feelings to Bunny but comes to know that Bunny has got a scholarship to go to Chicago for a course of Journalism for four years. She keeps her feelings to herself again and does not tell Bunny anything. Bunny moves to Chicago. After eight years, all the four friends again unite at the wedding ceremony of Kalki. What will Naina do this time? Will she share her feelings with Bunny or keep mum again? Will the commitment phobic Bunny accept Naina's proposal? Direction And Other Technical Aspects: The one film old young director Ayan Mukherjee has tried to revive the magic of all time hit romantic flick 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' with his 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'. But unfortunately, Mukherjee could not become successful in this. The story of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' has got many loopholes and so, it does not engage the audience. Seems that Mukherjee has not properly carved out the screenplay of this movie as it contains lots of scenes which are unnecessarily dragged. The directed has presented some things which are technically incorrect and impractical like, the actors do trekking suddenly very easily without any previous practice sessions. The story too is needlessly extended. A fight sequence in pointlessly included in this film which seems to be an unwanted patch. The dialogues too were average. In all, the story is chimerical which is wrapped attractively with catchy songs and fabulous star cast. Performances: The chemistry of ex beaus Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone was not that magical. It was average. But, their individual performances were good. Deepika has presented a shy nerdy girl next door Naina quite well. Later she has nicely shown the other side of Naina's i.e. an independent girl who is full of zest. While Ranbir fits in the role of free, commitment phobic, fun loving bunny very well. Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin have limited roles but look charming. The cameo of Kunaal Roy Kapur as Taran is adorable. Other supporting characters Farooq Sheikh, Dolly Ahluwalia and Tanvi Azmi are veteran actors who have given an outstanding performance in their roles. Music: The peppy numbers of 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' are already out and are on the top of the charts. Pritam has again become successful in giving a catchy and attractive music after 'Barfi!'. Songs like 'Badtameez Dil','Balam Pichkari' and 'Ghagra' are more captivating than 'Kabira' and 'Ilahi'. Final Verdict: 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' is a loosely tied predictable love story. Watch it only if you are a hardcore fan of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
