Farida Jalal

Born on 14th March 1949, to the native family of New Delhi. Farida Jalal started her career early in 1960s, when she won Filmfare's United Film Producers Talent Hunt competition. She marked her debut with 'Yeh Raaste Hain Pyar Ke' in the year 1963. Late then, she was young and was known by the name, Baby Farida. More than hundred films on to the credit of this versatile actress.

Though Farida never rose to fame as a lead actress, she was mainly beat-known in her supporting roles of a sister to the male lead. One of her most critically acclaimed act was of Rishi Kapoor's mentally disabled fiancee, Nikki in the film 'Bobby'. Also, she is fondly remembered in the romantic track, "Bagon me bahar hai, kaliyon pe nikhar hai" of 'Aradhana', pictured on her and Rajesh Khanna.

In her flourishing career as a supporting actress, Farida took a break in the year 1983, when she got settled in Bangalore. In 1991, she marked her comeback playing Bibi Gul in the film 'Henna', for which she won Filmfare's Best Supporting Actress Award. After her return, she played the matured roles of mother and aunt or sometimes even a grandmother.

From past 40 years, she has been associated with Bollywood. Although, she didn't made her name as a leading actress, she has played pivotal roles in number of super hit films. Some of her best performance are counted in the blockbusters like 'Raja Hindustani', 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', 'Dil To Pagal Hai', 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai', 'Zubeidaa' and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'.

Jalal didn't measure any of her role as big or small, but did the roles which appealed her. This could rightly be concluded as her reign of acting even flourished in the television world. She has worked in highest TRP rating TV soaps like 'Dekh Bhai Dekh' and 'Balika Vadhu'.

Farida Jalal got married to actor, producer Tabrez Barnavar, who died in the year 2003. The couple has a son named, Yaseen.
